We are going to teach you how to install your artificial grass correctly in a few simple steps.
Artificial Grass is the perfect product to create a modern, low maintenance space for you to enjoy in your garden.
Whether you choose to have a professional company to install your artificial grass, or you decide to have a go yourself, you won’t be disappointed with the results of a mud free, eye catching space.
When choosing your artificial grass, you need to ensure that you choose the correct grass for your needs. The best way you could do this is call in and have a look, feel and see the quality of the grasses. Here at Worksop Landscape & Building Supplies, we are always happy to assist you and give you helpful advise at our show site in Worksop, when choosing your grass.
Once you have chosen your artificial grass, you will need other materials such as crusher run for your base, grit sand or eco glass sand to create your levels under the grass and timber to create a solid framework under/around your grass.
Install your artificial grass by following the simple steps below:
Step 1:
Mark out the area where you are going to be laying your artificial grass using a string line.
Step 2:
Excavate the whole area at a depth of 4 inches or 100mm.
Step 3:
Insert your timber (ensure this is tanalised) to create a framework around the inside of the excavated area, secure the framework into the ground with pegs and screw the framework tightly together to prevent it moving out of place.
Step 4:
Infill the whole of the excavated area using 75mm of crusher run, then compact dow using a compactor plate.
Step 5:
On top of the compacted crusher run, you now should add the product you are using to create the level base. This may be grit sand, eco glass sand or another product which you/your profession prefers to use, this should be filled a further 25mm (compacted depth).
Step 6:
Screed the complete area using screed bars or similar, this is to ensure the area is fully level and to prevent dips or uneven areas within your grass.
Step 7:
Roll out the artificial grass and leave for a short period of time to enable any creases to drop out.
Step 8:
Fasten one side of the artificial grass down using a nail gun to secure into the timber framework which you installed earlier in your installation process. Ensure that you are stretching the grass as you go before you insert any nails.
Step 9:
Once the grass is fully nailed around all edges, brush the grass up using a stiff brush (or artificial grass brush if you have one)
Step 10:
Enjoy your grass!
To ensure your grass looks at its best in all seasons throughout the year, ensure you brush the grass on a regular basis to keep your pile high.
